"WHERE CIVILIZATION MEETS NATURE"

Blue heron on the dock - wildlife all aroundDon't worry, we don't live at the end of the world. North Bay with its 56,000 inhabitants is only half an hours drive from here and the village of Callander is even closer.

Rockview Camp is located on a small peninsula at the entrance to Lake Nipissing's South Bay. The bay with its approximately 50 islands is a paradise for wildlife in itself. Depending on the time of year you will find all kinds of birds: from the ordinary sparrow to the humming bird, from the robin, black bird and blue jay to the oriole and cardinal, from the duck and cormorant to the loon and many more. Observe the bald eagle raising its young in the nest maintained by a pair on one of the The ever popular chipmunks are not shy at all islands in the bay.

Our region is home to the beaver as well as to the otter and muskrat. And with some luck you will get to see the mink, which is living on our property.

Wild rabbits, racoons and squirrels are almost considered pets here. And of course there are the ever-present chipmunks. These funny little creatures will grab the offered peanuts right from your hand.

Close by, Restoule Provincial Park offers you hiking trails to scenic lookouts and to an old fire observation tower. Two hours South of us Algonquin Provincial Park is another great nature reserve. It is in these two parks where your chances of seeing deer and moose are the best.

Even if you're not interested in wildlife too much you won't be disappointed: take in the quiet peace of nature or learn how to be amazed all over again while looking at the beauty of the colourful forests of Indian summer. Thunderstorms can be quite impressive when being observed coming across the lake. So even if the sun is taking the day off Mother Nature will entertain you. Observe a thunderstorm moving across the lake or enjoy the cozy protection of your cottage while an autumn storm rages.

Each season has its highlights - come and see for yourself, what nature has to offer. By the way: breathtaking sunsets are available free of charge year round.
